NatureWorks Announces 100 Percent Third-Party Certified Sustainable Feedstock by 2020

Certified Sustainable Feedstock by 2020
Agricultural feedstocks for Ingeo biopolymer will be certified as environmentally and socially sustainable by the International sustainability & Carbon Certification System (ISCC PLUS) standard of best practices in agricultural production.

NatureWorks was the first biopolymers manufacturer to become certified to the new ISCC PLUS standard in 2012, and currently has more than 40% of its agricultural feedstock certified. At full capacity, more than 90 farms will be involved in the program by 2020.

The ISCC PLUS certified crops are grown within 50 miles of the NatureWorks’ Blair, Nebraska, production facility, which has an annual production capacity of 150,000 metric tons of Ingeo biopolymer. ISCC Press Release...

Every farm entering the program receives training in adhering to the ISCC PLUS certification’s principles, which are the following:

  1. Protect highly biodiverse and high carbon stock areas.
  2. Implement best agricultural practices for the use of fertilizers and pesticides, irrigation, tillage, soil management, and the protection of the surrounding environment.
  3. Promote safe working conditions.
  4. Comply with human, labor, and land rights.
  5. Comply with laws and international treaties.
  6. Implement good management practices and continuous improvement.

NEW: Ingeo 3D450

NatureWorks Develops New Ingeo PLA Formulation for 3D Printing Break-Away Support on Dual Extrusion Printers
We're proud to announce and introduce Ingeo 3D450, a new break-away formulation for use in dual extrusion 3D printers. The clean, fast mechanical break-away of Ingeo 3D450 support structures results in parts with high finish quality, reducing post-processing time and improving overall productivity.

Applications for Ingeo 3D450 support material include complex industrial parts such as jigs and fixtures, patterns for investment metal casting, and architectural and retail models. Ingeo 3D450 is designed to work with the Ingeo 3D series of grades, including 3D850 and 3D870, that was developed for the professional printing market. At printing speeds up to 100 mm/s, Ingeo 3D450 prints and cools without warping even across large sections of support structures. Read More...

Suominen expands biolace line

Suominen has launched two new nonwoven products, Biolace Move and Biolace Cozy. As members of the long-lived Biolace product line, both are spunlace products but made of renewable raw materials, such as polylactic acid (PLA) and cotton.
